What Is Our Withdrawal Management Program?

PNLH’s Withdrawal Management Program for Adult Men, located in Madison Heights, Michigan, provides 24-hour monitoring and support, 7 days per week, for men beginning recovery from substance use. Often referred to as medical detox or detoxification services, withdrawal management helps individuals safely manage withdrawal symptoms in a structured, supportive environment.

An addiction medicine physician oversees the withdrawal management process and may use medications, when clinically appropriate, to reduce discomfort and support stabilization. Nursing staff are available 24/7 to monitor symptoms, assess client needs, and provide ongoing support.

In addition to medical monitoring, clients participate in therapeutic programming that includes group therapy, individual therapy, recovery education, and support with planning the next step in care. Group programming is provided approximately 5 hours per day, 6 days per week, with 4 hours of programming on Sundays.

The goal of the program is to support safe stabilization, emotional well-being, and a smooth transition into ongoing treatment and recovery support.

What Can I Expect During My Stay?

At our Madison Heights facility, our Adult Men’s Withdrawal Management Program provides a safe, structured environment where you can focus on your health and recovery.

We understand that many people arrive with very few personal belongings and may be unsure of what to expect. Our team works to ensure your basic needs are met from the moment you arrive. During your stay, you will have a comfortable place to sleep, access to showers and laundry facilities, and freshly prepared meals each day. Essential items are provided to help make your transition into treatment as smooth as possible.

Each day includes medical monitoring, therapy, recovery education, and support from a team dedicated to helping you safely navigate the withdrawal process. Our goal is to provide an environment where you feel respected, supported, and empowered to take the next step in your recovery journey.

What is the Length of Stay?

The length of stay in our Withdrawal Management Program varies based on your individual needs, medical condition, withdrawal symptoms, and overall progress in treatment.

Many people complete withdrawal management services within several days, while others may require additional time to ensure they are safe, stable, and ready for the next step in their recovery journey.

Throughout your stay, our medical and clinical team will regularly assess your progress and work with you to determine the most appropriate treatment recommendations. Before discharge, our team will help coordinate ongoing care and support to promote continued recovery.

What is the Aftercare?

Withdrawal management is often the first step in the recovery process. Before discharge, our team works closely with you to develop a personalized plan for continued treatment and support.

Many people choose to continue their care with PNLH through the next appropriate level of treatment. Depending on individual needs, recommendations may include residential treatment, intensive outpatient services, outpatient counseling, recovery housing, peer recovery coaching, case management, and other recovery support services.

Our goal is to help you build on the progress made during withdrawal management and connect you with the services and resources needed to support long-term recovery.
